PET NAME TESTING STATION
When to Use This Pet Name Picker
Slate Spark helps when you need fresh pet name ideas, a faster shortlist, or a playful way to break a household tie.
HOUSEHOLD PICK
Give everyone a turn
Let each person contribute a few names, then spin from the combined list. The wheel gives the whole household one visible result to consider together.
THEME EXPERIMENT
Build a list around a vibe
Try food names for a tiny troublemaker, space names for a curious cat, or nature, mythology, vintage, and character-inspired ideas that match your new companion.
Lab rule: a spin suggests the next name to test—not a name you have to keep. Save it as a finalist or spin again.
PET NAMING FIELD NOTE
How to Test a Pet Name Before You Keep It
Spin to find a promising pet name, then test how it sounds, how easily people can use it, and how well it fits your new companion.
Call it across the room
Say the name at the volume you would actually use. Try the full name and any likely nickname—a great-looking choice can feel completely different once you hear it.
Make sure everyone can use it
Ask the people who will say the name most often to pronounce and spell it. If everyone naturally lands on the same version, the name has passed another test.
Match the name to the pet
Compare the finalists with your pet’s appearance, energy, and developing personality. The wheel can find a contender; the little creature in front of you gets the final vote.
